# How do I Complete 'Mission' in the Scorecard for an Open Position?

## Capturing the essence of success

The **mission** is the first element of a Scorecard. It captures, in one sentence, the very essence of what success looks like in a role.

**Examples:**

- VP Sales: *“Grow RiverCo’s largest division from $50M to $100M over the next three years.”*
- Olympic Skiing: *“Represent the country at the 2026 Winter Games and finish in the top 5 rankings.”*

**Tips for writing role missions:**

1. Keep it **short and clear** — one sentence max.
2. Tie it to **business outcomes** — not tasks.
3. Make it **inspiring but measurable**.
