The Who Interview Explained

A structured way to uncover candidate history

The Who Interview is the backbone of the Who Method. It is a structured, chronological interview that uncovers a candidate’s career journey in detail.

The five key questions:

  1. What were you hired to do?

  2. What accomplishments are you most proud of?

  3. What were some low points?

  4. Who did you work with?

    • What was your boss’s name?

    • What was it like working with them?

    • What would they say were your strengths and weaknesses?

  5. Why did you leave?

Why it works:

  • It reveals patterns over time.

  • It reduces bias by focusing on facts, not impressions.

  • It provides material for reference checks (via TORC).

Pro tip:
Always ask follow-up questions to dig deeper — especially when accomplishments or reasons for leaving seem vague.
